One Child Dead, Three Others Critically Injured After Stabbing in Valley Heights

A child has died and three others are fighting for their lives following a stabbing incident in Valley Heights in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Waratah Road, Valley Heights, at approximately 12:45 p.m. on September 20, 2026, following reports that three children and a woman had suffered stab wounds inside a vehicle.

Child Dies at the Scene

Police from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command were informed that members of the public had rushed to help the injured victims, performing first aid while emergency services were contacted.

One of the children was found deceased inside the vehicle.

The child could not be saved, and authorities have not yet released their identity.

Three Victims Hospitalised in Critical Condition

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the remaining victims at the scene before transporting them to Westmead Hospital and Westmead Children’s Hospital.

The two surviving children and the woman are all reported to be in critical condition.

Police said the children are believed to be under five years old, while the woman is believed to be in her 40s. Their identities have not yet been formally confirmed.
